How Long Will It Take To Build?
The amount of time it takes to build a home varies depending on several factors. In general, a 3,000 – 4,000 square foot home will take an average of 6 months. Some of the factors that will dictate the timing include: the amount of prep work that is completed prior to the closing, the complexity of the home, the amount of changes made, and the amount of flexibility the home owner has in finding the time to pick out various items such as electrical and plumbing fixtures.
Can I Make Changes?
What becomes apparent while building your new home is that it is a lot easier to visualize various aspects of the home once it is under construction and not simply a two-dimensional image on a blueprint. Changes can certainly be made, and typically, if they are made early enough in the process, at no additional cost. By means of an example, adding an additional closet while still framing the home is very easy to do. However, once the framers have left, there would be an additional expense involved to bring them back and add that same closet. We will review any modifications the homeowner may wish to make and will always discuss any financial implications to be certain there are no unwelcome surprises.
What Is The Homeowner’s Role In The Building Process?
The homeowner’s role is threefold:
1. Work closely with me to ensure your new home is built according to our agreed-upon and documented specifications.
2. Help identify any modifications that present themselves as the building process evolves.
